& East Dorset Cross Country League 2003 This was the biggest and best league so far if numbers are anything to go
by! There was one new venue (Canford Arena) and three which have been used
successfully before (Upton House, Canford School and Ferndown Upper). A total of 692 pupils competed in at least one race and 331 completed at
least three races. There was an excellent turnout in most age groups except for
the Senior Girls.
In several of the categories the winner was often well clear of the
nearest challenger, but this was not the case in the Junior Girls category where
Broadstone's Becky Neal beat her rival Harriet Hughes on the basis of the fourth
race, which only counts in the event of a tie (positions are based on the best
three out of the four races). In the Year 6 & 7 Girls category, the overall
winner was a guest runner from Blandford, but the league title goes to Rebecca
Cutts of the Yarrell's School in Upton. We welcome guest runners from outside
the area, but this is on the understanding that they cannot take individual or
team titles. Congratulations to the individual and team winners in each of the
eight age groups:
